Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Father's posessions and remains

My father lived in Orlando, FL with his girlfriend. She stored his ashes and belongings there and was supposed to wait until I get there 3 weeks from now. Just heard from her. She is now living in Oklahoma and took all Dad's posessions with her, as well as his ashes. What rights do I have as his only child to stop her from disposing of the ashes and items as she sees fit.

Re: Father's posessions and remains

Since they were not legally married, unless your father put his funeral arrangements in writing with his girlfriend as the custodian, you as his direct heir should be able to enjoin (sue) her from keeping or disposing of them.
