Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

How do I find out if there was a will?

How do I find out if someone had a will, if I don't know who his attorney was? This person made it clear to myself and others that everything was to go to me in the event of his death, but no will has surfaced, unless his son found it, and is sitting on it. The son is selling everything, and started doing so immediately after my friend died.

Unless it was filed with court in the county of the deceaseds residence I know of no way other than publishing a notice in the local newspaper.
