My best friend died yesterday and he added me on to his safety deposite box. I have misplaced the key. What should I do. I can't get into his home to get the other key. The bank told me he has to be their to drill it open. Help!

If you don't have a key, the bank will have to drill it open.

File the probate and get a court order from the Judge to open the safe deposit box. You can remove the will only. Have the bank fill out the deposit contents and when the probate is completed then the assets will be distributed according to the will. Just because your name is on the box does not mean that he wanted you to have the contents.
