Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
Gift question. My father gave me $10,000 towards the purchase of a condo in 1984. He also gave me $8,000 towards a car in 2004. My sister and I are in litigation and he passed away in 2014. I was written out of the Will, but my father turned over the condo in 2013. She wants money and put a false stalking order on me along with a false Baker Act which is being overturned. The question is, does she get any of these funds. I don't want to spend thousands of dollars on this matter and what is the amount someone can "gift in a lifetime."

Was your father lucid and aware of his boundaries in 1984. In other words was he still able to handle his financial affairs. If so, the 10K is none of her business. In 2004 what was his standing as to his ability to handle his financial affairs. If he could, then the $8K is yours to keep.
As to the condo - "father turned over the condo in 2013" to whom did he turn it over to?Again what was his state of mind?
