Heirs responsibility

Are the heirs responsible for paying debts including abuse of credit cards of deceased parents?

Yes and No. Heirs are responsible for paying credit card debt of the decedent but only up to the amount of their inheritance if a claim was properly filed in a timely fashion by the creditor.

A deceased person's estate and/or living trust is liable for the debts of the decedent. Beyond that, heirs should have no liability for such debts unless they were personally reponsible for them.
