Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
My husband and I have been married for 32 years. We have a house in FLorida, but many bank accounts over seas (England and the Bahamas). Do we need to make a will in every country we have properties and bank accounts, or a general will will do ?
I am canadian citizen but a permanent legal alien here for 30 years and my husband is an americann citizen with residency in the Bahamas, where he work a great deal.
So here it goes :
house in canada
house in florida
condo in the bahamas
bank account in england
bank account in the bahamas
small checking in the US
small checking in canada

No. A valid Florida will, is valid every where. Probate of the will will depend on domicile and location of property.
If the will was valid in Florida, it should be recognized. The property that is in Florida will go through Florida probate. The other properties will be handled in the countries where they are located. The rules will vary depending on the location. For instance, for more information about the rules in England and Wales, see http://www.adviceguide.org.uk. I recommend that you see an estate planning attorney for further assistance. Regards,
