Incapaticated -Power of Attorney Needed

My father recently had open heart surgery. He is not doing well and has been kept sedated. He could be in ICU for many weeks. We failed to get power of attorney before he had surgery and now I need to know how I can get it in order to pay his bills etc. In worst case scenerio I have been setup to be the executor of his estate. Please advise. Thank you.
