Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
Are there inheritance/probate taxes for house & estate that are joined ownership
My father died recently and my mother would like to know if she has to pay any taxes or other fees for the inheritance of the house and real estate? My parents had all their belongings in joined ownership, so can she just change the title of ownership (for the house) to her name or is there anything she has to do first? Any taxes ot payments included in this inheritance?

Re: Are there inheritance/probate taxes for house & estate that are joined owner
If the house that your father owned was in his name and your mother's name then the only thing that your mother needs to do with the house is to file a Quit Claim Deed removing his name. With reference to your question about taxes. Taxes become an issue if the estate is worth $650,000.00 or greater, but this may not be an issue if the estate was set up properly. Your facts do not give specifics. In addition, there may be issues of probate if there remains any asset in your fathers name solely.
