insurance policy or legal assets

how can I find out if ther were an insurance policy or any assets left to me and my sister.

If you know who the Personal Representative (executor) of the estate is, contact him/her. Also check with the court in the county where the estate is located to see if a will has been deposited or probate filed. In any case, I suggest consulting a probate attorney in your area.
