Legally who is next of kin in a two sibling family?Like who has the right to make arrangments etc.? There is no will. Plus the other sibling has not contacted nor wanted contact from the recent deceased person. Thank you,

Re: Next of kin

In Florida, if there is no will and no surviving spouse, all the children would get an equal share of the estate. The fact that one sibling had little or no contact with the deceased has no effect on the probate process. My immediate advice is that you and your sibling should try and work togeather as the probate of your parent's estate will be better served by your cooperation.
