Life Estate
My Father died and gave my Step mother a life estate to live in the house until she died and then it was left to me. Besides putting this information in his Will, did he have to file something with the property appraisal and have an instrument number for it to be legal? If this was not done, and the property records does not have an instrument number, instead it says unrecorded, does this mean it is not legal?
