Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Life Insurance

My sister is asking for my social security number because she says that our father has another life insurance policy and that the company needs my social security number in order to process the claim. My father's estate was settled over 10 months ago. I am suspicios that they would ask her to get my SS# and not send me a formal request for my information. Even though my sister has dealt with settleing my father's estate she is not the executor. Our oldest sister is the executor. Should they not go through the executor?

Re: Life Insurance

Life insurance does not go through the estate typically so the personal representative would not be responsible for it. If you don't trust your sister, then ask for the information to contact the carrier yourself. Typically, a social security number is required.
