Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
how long does it take to settle an estate
3 Answers from Attorneys
It depends on the size of the estate and the complexities encountered (e.g., are heirs contesting a will, number of creditors, etc.). Small estates that are eligible for Summary Administration or Disposition of Personal Property without Administration can take 3-6 months. Formal Administration for larger estates can take longer than 6 months to a year. If issues are encountered, it is not unheard of for settling of and estate to take longer than a year. As Mr. Coenson stated, it will depend on a lot of factors dealing with the estate. Be glad to speak with you above this is you need help.

It varies depending on Estate and location within the State. I have found it can take 12+ months even with minimal Estates.
