My mom passed several yrs ago: her step son took over the property now is dead. His daughter is trying to gain full control. How do I handle this situation. I am her daughter. But live in America

Did your mom own the house upon her death? how was it titled? did the step son actually have any ownership interest in it at all? More questions than answers. Seek some legal guidance with all proper paperwork.
Assuming the property is in Florida, if the property was in your mother's name alone and was never transferred to another owner then someone will need to file a Petition for Summary Administration. Since there is more than one beneficiary, an attorney is handled to require the matter according to Florida law. Before anything can be done, the title of the property, and potentially other assets, needs to be evaluated by an attorney.
