Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Ordering a copy of my deceased mothers will?

MY mother passed away in 1983 in Miami, Fla. I need to get a copy of her will. Could you please advice me how to proceed? And if I find some discrepancy in the distribution of assests, do I go through a lawywer here (in California) or do I contact a Lawyer in Miami, Fla. ? Any information that you can provide me, will be greatly appreciated.

The court that probated the will should have a

copy. I doubt a court would entertain a 20 year old matter.

NOTE: This communication is not intended as and should not be interpreted as legal advice. Rather, it is intended solely as a general discussion of legal principles. You should not rely on or take action based on this communication without first presenting ALL relevant details to a competent attorney in your jurisdiction and then receiving the attorney's individualized advice for you. By reading the "Response" to your question or comment, you agree that the opinion expressed is not intended to, nor does it, create any attorney-client relationship, nor does it constitute legal advice to any person reviewing such information, nor will it be considered an attorney-client privileged communication. If you do not agree, then stop right here, and do not read any further.

The chances are that the Will has been destroyed as has the probate file if the estate was probated. There is a Statute of Limitations which has long since passed and any chance to contest the estate has probably been lost.
