can a probate attorney rent out homes in probate and keep the money on the sly?

Actually the Personal Representative can rent out property while in probate. It happens all the time.

Keep the money? NO, that is stealing. The rent is an asset of the estate and must be accounted for. Use the money to pay expenses? Yes, as long as its accounted for.
