Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
can a probate lawyer even try a criminal case in florida

A licensed state attorney can handle any type of case they feel competent to handle, as long as they are a member of the court that handles those cases. So a probate lawyer can handle criminal matters and a personal injury attorney can handle probate. We all take the same bar exam to get our license which tests us in a variety of areas, criminal, civil, contracts, wills, etc.
Saying that, it still may not be the wisest thing for an attorney who is not current on their knowledge in a particular area to do it, i.e., I try not to do anything outside of wills/estate planning/probate, real estate law and corporate/business law, and no civil or criminal litigation.
