Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

My question concerns who may be a beneficiary. My father was a retired police officer. He died last month. My brother and I are his only heirs he was not married at the time of death. However, he was living with a girlfriend at the time whom he met 8 months ago. He left her as his beneficiary to receive his retirment money. She is married to another man in N.C. Can he legally make a non-relative his beneficiary?

Sure. He can leave things to whomever he wants to.
