Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Reasonable Costs of Contesting a Will

I have been advised that I have a strong case to contest a will but the attorney charges the maximum allowed by the state. My siblings are upset with me about this. How do I locate an attorney who might be more reasonably priced and still be sure to have competent representation? Also, is it possible for clients to do some of the filings and legwork themselves in order to save on costs? How does a client really know when it is best to hire hourly vs. contingency? Thank you.

Suggest ypu go to your local bar association to obtain the names of a few attorneys to speak to.

Re: Reasonable Costs of Contesting a Will

When deciding between hourly and contingency it is very difficult to determine at the start of any probate action who will be better off at the end. The trade off is often a known fee versus an unknown fee. It is probably in your best interests to talk with several attorneys. As with the purchase of any service, I do not think money should not be the sole determining factor in your decision. I suggest you include the other heirs in the selection process.
