Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Responsibility after Death

My husband and I are VERY concerend with our finacial obligations to his parents estate after death. They are NOT finacially responsible at all. They have permanetly moved to Florida and we are in Wisconsin. They had financial issues here that we think have been cleared up, but do not know for sure. They claim that there are no financial issues in Florida, but we can not be assured of this either. They refuse to tell us any information concerning their estate and financial status. We have discovered issues in the past and can not beleive any thing they say. In the case that one goes before the other, are we correct to assume that debt will be covered then, and then when the second parent goes, the estate will cover all debt then? If there is not enought funds available to cover all debt, are we in any way shape for from responsible for their debt. As far as we know, there is life insurance policies, but retirement funds have been completely depleted (they are not even 70 yet),&possibly stocks. My husband is an only child, but there are extended family members that my be involved, but we don't know. We work very hard for everything and don't want to be responsible for his parents continued irresponsibility of their finances.
