Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
Responsibility for my mom's bills
My mother has put me on her checking and savings account at her bank. She is 83 years old. That way I can write checks on her account to pay her bills and deposit any of social security checks while she is out of town. She is of sound mind and I do not have power of attorney and do not have my name on any other of her accounts. Question: Since my name is on her savings and checking accounts am I held responsible after she dies for any of her unpaid bills? Thanks

No. One has no relationship with the other. Her estate will be responsbile to pay any outstanding debts, if any, from the assets of mom's estate.

You are not, her estate is.
