Re: settlement suit

The rules regulating members of the Florida Bar require the lawyer to prepare a closing statement that is to be signed by any lawyer getting a fee and the client. The closing statement must state the amount of money received (the settlement amount), all costs and other deductions, and the fee to be paid to each lawyer. Usually, almost always, there is a settlement agreement that identifies the settlement amount.

The method that the fee is divided between the lawyers (who gets what percentage) must be in a written agreement signed by both lawyers and the client.
