Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

small estate -- what options other than disposition w/o administration

intro/info:

father passed away 2 weeks ago, mother and his wife of 53 years still living. original-attorney prepared will, official death cetificate, tax affidavit, etc, all filed with the court thru a no-frills estate lawyer for minimal price ($250).

originally thought no need for probate as all assets were ''believed'' to be in both names.

later find out he had a bank CD and a personal loan in his name only (no beneficiaries) with one securring the other.

questions:

what options exist to cash cd, pay off loan and recoup approximately $1000 delta?

do we now need to go through probate?

what happens if we just let cd mature in 2+ years? then probate?

The bank will probably require the personal representative mentioned in the will to probate the will and be officially appointed by the court. Speak with them first.
