out of state bond

my husband--name removed--mom died a Florida resident, leaving him and his dad sole beneficiaries. My husband is also executor/personal rep. we live in NY

After 9 months the attorney now wants him to post bond so the estate to be probated. Why is this necessary because he lives out of state?

Some state require a bond to protect the beneficiaries of the estate.

For further clarification you may just want to ask the attorney for the specifics of the bond. It would be easiest to discuss it out in the open and you may discover ways to circumvent the requirement by doing so.
