Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida
My stepfather recently died in a house fire, he had no last will and had designated me as the POA for my mother who is in a Fla nursing home. He had taken her name off 2 checking accounts because of medicare. According to the bank we have to petition the court to have my name added to the accounts so that I may continue to pay the mortgage, bills and everyday expenses. What do I need to do?

I do not know how he could give you your mother's POA so it needs to be examined. You are not his beneficiary under Florida law. Your mother is. I am not sure you confused medicare with medicade. However, you need to make an appointment with an attorney to figure this out. There are too many issues to address.
I agree with Mr. Kaplan, there are too many unanswered questions in order to deal with your current issue. Call for an appointment if you are located in my area.
