Stockholder services for the inherited stock company or for your brokerage house? Is it an over the counter or nationally traded company or a small firm stock? You need to have a series of questions answered. There may be restrictions which prevent the stock from being transferred to anyone else and yourself. If not, it may be that stockholder services is confused about what you want. I would put the request in writing.
