Are stocks an asset that have to be included in probate?

I would like to know what type of assets are required to be listed in a probate court. Are stocks included?

Re: Are stocks an asset that have to be included in probate?

Generally, probate assets are those assets in the decedent's sole name at death or otherwise owned solely by the decedent and which contain no provision for automatic succession of ownership at death. For example, shares of stock in the decedent's sole name are part of the probate estate and shares of stock held jointly with rights of survivorship (JTWROS)with another person, would not be a probate asset.
