There are no dead-set deadlines and when an estate is distributed is, within reason, up to the personal representative and attorney/administrator. Having said that, there is a 90-day period after publication within which creditors may file claims against the estate. Because of this, you should expect that no distribution would occur until at least 4 months after the estate is opened.

You should receive your bequest BEFORE the probate is finished. The estate cannot be closed until all beneficiaries have signed a receipt.
