Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Florida

Our uncle died and we found out we are the heirs to his estate. he had a son that we were told he either signed off so his ex's new husband could adopt him or he was never put on the birth cert. So now the Son is contesting the estate. I read that in Florida the law states that an adopted child does not have any legal right to their biological parents estate. Is this true?
