Uncle died and left life ins to me

My uncle died and left me a Life insurance of $5000, his bank acct had $4500 which was under both our names, his was the primary. I was his POA attorney in fact. Am I liable for medical bills after his death and do creditors know about this. They keep sending him bills because he used my address. Am I liable to make those payments?

Probably not. If the account was in joint names, then it passed to you immediately upon the death of your uncle. The life insurance passes to you outside of your uncle's estate. Only probateable assets are subject to claims of creditors. If there none, then you have no obligation to pay.
