I know an 87 year old women has no

will and no children.How does her

money get distributed.She has nieces

and nephews and does the state get

any money

If she has no relatives who are closer than nieces and nephews, then they will share equally in her estate. The State of Florida takes nothing unless she has to pay federal estate tax. The exemption this year is 2.5 million dollars; anything less than that and there is no estate tax.
