If a will was made in the 1980's and no updated will has been made is this one still legal?

Why would you need to update if directives are the same?

If person has been diagnosed as Alzheimer's patient would will made by them now be legal?

Yes. Probably no reason. Diagnosis of Alzheimer's is not determinitive, depends on degree of impairment.
