If you refuse to sign off on the agreement, the insurance company will file a pleading with the court called a Motion to Enforce Settlement. At that time you can tell the judge that you never gave the attorney the power to settle your case. It's a tricky situation and you probably should find new counsel as it appears that you are in a conflict with your current attorney. There is a case from the appellate court which directly supports you if the judge believes you did not give your attorney authority to settle. However, I must warn you that it will be quite difficult finding a new attorney to represent you at this hearing because of a payment issue (just being honest). You can go to the hearing alone and testify on your behalf. If the judge believes you, then you can probably have a higher chance of finding new counsel after the motion to enforce is denied. Good Luck.
