Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

my mother is 73 years old and getting a divorce.Her Husband is not supporting her ( no Money) and she recieves social security only ($930.00) a month and lives with me.She has a car that she owes more than its worth and cant afford car payments any longer.she will be voluntarily bringing the car back to the dealership.Question?? She is a survivor of 911 and was awarded some money,If she buys a car for $10,000 in cash, can they take her car away from her if thats her only means of transportation to and from work? We were told if it was workmans comp money,they cant,is this true??
