Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida

Paid time off

I need surgery for my work related injury and was told that I do not get paid for the week that I need to be off? Is this true? This does not seem fair for an injury that was not my fault.

If an injury on the job results in less than 7 days of disability, you do not get paid by WC. But many employers voluntarily pay or let the employee take sick time or vacation time for the week.
