Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida
not paying for bill
When I first told my employer, my hand and shoulder was hurting , they sent me to a 24 hour care office. That dr, perscribed me pain pills, a perscription 3x a week to therpy for 3 weeks, and to see a specialist. I started the pain pills and made an appt. to see the specialist. In the mean time, I began therapy. I went to 5 visits, before I was able to see the specialist. Who then decided, my injury wasnt work related. I immediatly stopped going to the therepy. Now 1 1/2 years later, I am receiving the bill for over 500.00 stating, I have to pay for it. They paid my gas mileage, and all my meds. Do I have to pay for this therepy? It was ordered by , a docter, they sent me to. I would have never gone on my own. Thanks, Janet

Re: not paying for bill
If at the time you got the treatment it was authorized by your employer or the compensation carrier, you do not have to pay for it. Advise the therapist to send the bill to the workers' compensation carrier for the employer and not to bother you any further. If any collection attempts are made or your credit report is notified of an unpaid debt, see a lawyer who handles unfair debt collection cases.
