Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida
washout/settlement
my husband slid off a roof and shattered both heel bones while at work. He is an electrician and was on the roof fixing a light. He showed traces of cocaine in his urine. He was out of work 6 months and still is under doctors care.
His attorney just sent us papers for a washout/settlement. Which states we will not get anything but the insurance company will pay hospital bills tha cover only hospital stay and not any doctors office visits or any lost wages. Is there anything I can do. If I decide I don't agree to this can I change lawyers and start over?
What is a washout/settlement?
Thanks
Lisa

Re: washout/settlement
You always have the option of refusing a settlement offer and always have the option of changing lawyers. Before making a final decision to decline the offer, contact one or two Florida Bar Board Certified Workers' Compensation lawyers and discuss the facts and the offer and whether the attorney thinks he can win the case at trial. Then decide.
