Legal Question in Workers Comp in Florida
workers com
I was presented with a ''General Release & Waiver of Employment'' that is 2 1/4 pgs long with excessive references to statutes, codes, etc. (The carrier wants to do a washout.)These waivers include items that are not @ all applicable to a simple washout & are very confusing & thus causing me concern as to just what it is I'm signing. My attny wants to stop representing me if I don't just sign & get it over with. All I have asked for since Mar 2007 is that the carrier pay for a doctor bill that was for the injury. They don't want to. I was awarded lifetime care for the injury & understood that the carrier was to pay all medical bills until a judge signed a final settlement. The carrier's attny now states that if I don't agree to ''no past or future'' medical bills paid''...they will not negotiate any further. It is just the principle that they were to pay & now bully me to get out of it. My attny said he is tired of it & he's out if I don't sign this confusing agreement. He also says I can hire someone else if I don't sign. I've never refused to sign, but they keep coming up with new forms to be signed. My mental state is getting very depressed. What should I do?

You are right to be concerned with language in a settlement release that you don't understand. You should consult with another attorney. Select one that is Florida Bar Board Certified in Workers' Compensation
