Legal Question in Family Law in France

Custody laws in France

My husband is French, I'm English and we currently live in UK. I've been told that if I have children and they are born in France - if we ever separated (god forbid), I would not be able to take them with me back to UK. Does that mean it's best they are born in UK, and we move to France after?

Re: Custody laws in France

You have been given bad information. If you were to separate and could not agree on custody, then a court would determine who should have primary custody and the visitation rights of the non-custodial parents. The child will be French whether he/she is born in France or in the UK by virtue of the father's nationality.
