Legal Question in Family Law in France

transfering custody, statutory rape, alimony

Hello,

My husband has been divorced in Utah for almost 4 years. He was previously married to a French woman (~ 15 years). The divorce was pronounced in Utah and registered in France, she contested it and now is appealing saying that she didn`t know it went through in Utah even though she was represented here by her attorney. This woman is now living with another man and is requesting 150.000 euros in prestacion compensatoire ( type of allimony). She wants the divorce to be pronounced that at his own fault. Also they had 5 children, 3 of them are asking us to please go get them in France because they are always alone and wants to be here with us. ( ages 15, 12 and 9)

The 16 year old girl was not available for visitation when we went to France 3 weeks ago because her boyfriend wanted to take her up to the mountains for the Christmas week. We registered the case with the Gerdamerie. I want to help my husband to get out of this tangled divorce process, we have been trying for years but the court system goes slowly and she appeals every time with a different lie, sometimes contradictory.

You will have to continue with the process in France until the French authorities recognize the divorce there as well as here, especially if you want custody of the children. I assume you have a French attorney.
