Legal Question in Personal Injury in Georgia

my wife was ran over by a car as a pedestrian and crushed her ankle. The hospital bill was 50,000and the guy had only 25,000 coverage. The insurance company has already sent the 25 000 check. The lawyer will not pay her until he says he cannot pay until he finds out how much the hospital wants to settle on. We are indigent and he is spoon feeding small advances here and there He claims the hospital can sue him if they are not paid. WE are getting very Leary to say the least Please send us your input!!!

The hospital may have filed a medical lien, which means they can file suit against you or the insurance company that settled the claim. Your attorney cannot be sued by the hospital, but he is probably looking out for your best interest.

Your attorney is in the best position to work out a settlement with the hospital. Sometimes it takes a hospital a few weeks to get a bill reduction approved. If it takes more than a couple months, you may want to demand a look at his Escrow account to make sure the money is still in there.
