Disability for pregnant women

I am pregnant and feel that my job is causing too much stress on myself and unborn child. What is the deal on short term disability for pregnant women?

Under federal law it depends on how long you have been employed. If you have worked for the employer for more than 1 year and have logged more than 1250 hours and your employer is covered by the FMLA, then you are entitled to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for the birth of your child. For more information on the FMLA, you can check out my website, www.memphisemploymentlawyer.net and follow the link to "What is illegal?" There are a number of links on my FMLA page that can help you better determine your rights under the FMLA.

If you are looking for some type of short-term disability, then your rights are going to be governed by the language of the short-term disability policy.

If you still have questions, you will need to consult with an attorney who handles these types of cases regularly.
