I gave birth to my son in Ohio. I live in Georgia and he lives in Illinois with his father. His birth records originated in Ohio. How would I go about changing his name?

The answer depends on details we do not have. If you and the father consent, it MAY be possible for you to get a lawyer and file a case in Superior Court here in Georgia. It also likely is possible, and perhaps easier, for the father to file where he is in Illinois. (I should note that because you posted this in a category that has nothing to do with family law, and this is a family law matter most of LawGuru's family lawyers never saw the question). Depending on what custody rights you have you may or may not be a proper party to file the case.
