Legal Question in Administrative Law in Georgia
I have purchased an artowrk though local Graislist, paid and framed the art- total cost about $400. Having some dougbs about "home-made like " certificate authenticity contacted the petar Max Gallery and sure enough the numbers on the artwork did not match the inventory ( it took 3 months for the gallery to contact me back). I have contacted the seller, but she denied that she sold a fake, saying she did not know. What I am to do? i am sure legal fees if I have to go all the way will be far more than $400. Should I just suffer and learn my lesson? or local sheriffs department will be able to do something? So frastrated!!!

First of all, Craigslist is so full of scamsters that you should never buy anything there unless you are 100% sure of what it is and are also 100% sure the seller really owns it and didn't steal it or do a fake product.
You probably can sue the seller in small claims court (Magistrates Court) and depending on what the certificate says, you might win your money. It will take time to sue and you are not guaranteed a win and collection just because you sue.
I doubt the police would consider this case a crime. It's a civil matter.
