Legal Question in Banking Law in Georgia
i applied for a credit card at a local bank and ask the person who took my application about the statement $50 annual fee. I explain to her that if there was a fee, i would not be interested in applying for their card. She assured me that their was no fee. After I was approved and received the card (about 9 or 10 months later), shortly after I received my statement with a balance of $50. I called and explained several times and ask that they wave the fee, but to no avail. I when to the bank to see the person authorized to wave the charge and she agreed and said that I should not be charged, that she would wave the fee because of what their rep told me.
Later I discovered that the bank did not wave the charge. But had been adding additional charges and interest fees to my account while refusing to wave the fee and decided to send my account to a collections department for immediate payment.
What recourse do I have at this point?

Was the fee disclosed when you got the card, and when you used it (which is normally how you "accept" the card and terms)? What do you mean "later" you discovered? Did you get monthly statements? How much later? Why was there a 9-10 month gap? Did you make charges on the card? Did you make all payments as due? There is a lot missing in this odd story, that seems to go on for several months.
