Legal Question in Banking Law in Georgia
My husband is on my checking acct but I am not on his. His acct was recently overdrawn by $394 and the bank transferred his fees to my acct without my knowledge. Now, I will be bouncing a number of outstanding checks and debits. The bank says they had the right to do this bc of the agreement that they sent to me in the mail the week after I signed up for my checking acct. Do I have any rights in this situation? How can I be responsible for the debts of an acct that I am not even listed on? Thanks, Julie

The answer depends on what is in your deposit agreement. Read it and you'll know if they can or cannot do it.
