I had an ex that has now had a lawyer send me a letter requesting $250 that he lended me while we were together. No contract or agreement was made to pay this back. Now suddenly theres this. The letter states "in my opinion this is legally sufficient to pursue and obtain a judgment against you" is this true?

No one here has enough facts to answer you. Bear in mind a witness, a text message or other very nominal evidence can prove a debt. How you or your lawyer answer the letter may also matter. In other words since you chose not to tell us both sides of the whole story, all you can get here are wild unusable guesses.

Very simple solution in most cases- if you borrowed money from someone, pay it back.
