Legal Question in Banking Law in Georgia
I wrote a few checks well over a year ago to the same person. Now he's saying he's going to deposit them. I told him the account has been closed for a long time and I don't have the money to cover them. He says if they come back, which is obvious they will, he can have me arrested. Is that true with the checks being that old? I'll probably be able to work out an arrangement, which I want to do, but I just want to know what he can do, just in case I can't come up with the money. Thanks

You're dishonesty is really showing. When you write a check, you don't just spend the money elsewhere. While the check is probably too old to prosecute, you can be sued for it (and damages), so find the money and do the right thing.
