Re: Bankruptcy
If you file a bankruptcy, you are to list all of creditors, including any home mortgages. Generally, your unsecured debt is dischargeable. You also receive a personal discharge from any mortgage; however, since the house secures the mortgage, if you don't make the payments, the bank can take your home.
It is sometimes confusing to understand how someone can be personally "off the hook" for a mortgage yet the house is still "on the hook."
