Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Georgia
bankruptcy and leins
My husband and I are in the process of finding an attorney to file chapter 7, we have lots of debt from starting a business. We are receiving letters from advertisement companies now that we owe money to that are suing us. My question is, we already have one lein on our home for $7000.00, if we file chapter 7 will that be cancelled and also can the other creditors continue to put leins on our property after we file?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Kendra

Re: bankruptcy and leins
New liens cannot be recorded after filing. Existing liens, in some cases, may be removed during a bankruptcy. My office has free bankruptcy information and a free worksheet at www.glenashman.com.
